Always playing with paper #64: Navy, Lime, Blue & Grey

 Here is a birthday card for my 19 yr. old Nephew.
 I love when I find a sketch and a color challenge at the same time!
The "twist" I chose are the four brads I added from my stash.  

Winter Birthday Wishes LIM#258, CAS#74

 

Another shot at CAS and can you see my indecision?
I made this card two ways, to the right first and then centered in the middle.  While I like how both of them turned out, stamping in the middle seems the safer (more balanced) less creatively risky way - Using the words safe and risky sound odd when referencing art, but those stampers with confidence issues will understand!  I added Stampin' up dazzling details to the center of the top snowflake for added sparkle without the bulk.  Four different stamps were used to create this card two different unmounted snowflakes, the flourish and a sentiment.
This card was inspired by the Less is More Challenge #258 to use a flourish & CAS on Sunday #74 Winter theme.

I find clean and simple (CAS) some of the hardest cards to make! I tend to not stay clean and I complicate instead of simplify :P

Fantasy Stampers: Happy Birthday

 

I tried stamping the candles directly on the blue card stock and adding orange stickles and I made a huge mess ~ so I cut them off and added the blue piece to white card stock and stamped new candles to dance across the top that I colored with orange marker instead.  The metal accents are brads and I used washi tape for accent.  The sentiment is by Cornish Heritage Farms and the set is called "Birthday Centers".  

Soccer happy birthday, AHS#120

I like the simplicity and versatility of the sketch this week at Atlantic Hearts:  I first found the scraps of blue and green and then the background green paper and trim.  I decided a boy's card would work and found the soccer ball in my stash.  I like the Happy Birthday sentiment being in brackets because it made me think of goal posts.  simple and fun.

I was wondering what I was going to use those big flat rhinestones on that I found while out treasure hunting!   I've been wanting to make a card with this pretty birthday sentiment too, I really like the scripted font. 

365 Cards: #85 Steam

Today's word prompt on 365 cards is "Steam" so I thought of coffee and a hot bath ~ ahhhh -then I thought of this hot air balloon....steam - hot air...?!  I thought this "Happy Birthday" sentiment stamp went with the hot air balloon very nicely.   I stamped on glossy photo paper with a black palette ink pad.  I colored in the image using glaze gel pens and added some rhinestones for sparkle.  A very fast and fun unisex birthday card. 

365 Cards: #70 Monday Sketch & Birthday Sundae's #8

This week 365 cards is going to use sketches for their challenges. 
Here is Monday's sketch:
I also used the the challenge from Birthday Sundaes to help me decide what to create today.  You needed to use two patterned papers and at least three embellishments.  I chose to stamp and cut out these flowers from JRL designs.  I stamped the background shadow in yellow ink, then over stamp in purple and cut out the flowers.  On one I added a rhinestone (1).  I layered two tag punches from Stampin Up and a birthday sentiment with a lace knot for a bow (2).  I had a little scrap of floral ribbon that I added to the border and attached a purple charm (3&4) to the knot.   For my zig-zag line, I used purple rick rack (5).  The card and stamps are available in my Etsy shop.

365 Cards: #69 Sketchy Sunday

Today is sketchy sunday on 365 cards:

This bulldog is just too cute! full of personality and ready to wish someone a happy birthday!  I made the card using papertrey ink card stock, and patterned paper from The Angel Company called Winchester and Amberly Grace.  Thanks for looking!

365 cards, Craft your Passion, and Critter Sketch

Today on 365 cards the challenge is to "Say it subtlety" I chose to make a "Happy Birthday" card that could be for any age and that would be suitable for a man or a women.  On craft your passion the challenge was to "show us your layers" which this card has several to meet that criteria as well.  the sketch design is from critter sketch challenge which I thought was fun and pulled all the requirements together for me today.  I'm selling the stamp and the card together in my Etsy shop if you are interested: Etsy Link

 

365 Cards: #43 accordian card

 

Today on 365 cards http://365cards.blogspot.com/2011/04/day-43-fancy-folds-accordion-card.html the challenge is to make an accordian card.  I found this video on bukisa http://www.bukisa.com/videos/12088_how-to-make-an-accordion-card and made this birthday greeting.  I like how it makes the sentiment "float" when you open the card. 

LIM #10 OLC Sentiment

Thank you less is more http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/2011/04/week-10-one-layer-challenge-sentiment.html for getting me to try this technique.  I was at a rubber stamping convention when I learned about heat & stick powder and gold foil.  I purchased the necessary items to play and they have been in my drawer for about 2 years now!  I stamped the sentiment with a glue pad by Tsukineko and sprinkled on Stamp and bond embossing powder by stampendous.  I used my heat gun to melt the powder and make it sticky, then sprinkled assorted shades of gold foil over the sentiment and pounced and brushed over the image with a stencil brush to make the foil stick to the glue and taa-daa! pretty good for a first attempt.  Now maybe I'll play with it more...?

365 Cards: Sketchy #41 & Bday Sundaes #4

                                                 Here is Today's challenge on 365 cards:  http://365cards.blogspot.com/2011/04/day-41-super-sketchy-sunday.html I instantly saw a cupcake when I saw this sketch!  so I remembered in my stash I have a terrific die cut that I bought from a friend on Etsy.  her name is Sandy, and here is a link to her shop:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/sandyssentiments?section_id=6898830  I started looking for other challenges that might inspire the rest of the card and I found another card challenge site called Birthday Sundaes: http://birthdaysundaes.blogspot.com/2011/04/challenge-4-inspiration-picture.html They have an inspiration picture for challenge #4  that shows pink and white stripes with a banner  in the background.  I chose party hats to emulate the banner for a festive embellishment.

Stampin Sisters #83 & The Paper Variety: April Showers

This card was made for the Stampin sisters in Christ #83 http://stampinsistersinchrist.blogspot.com/2011/04/challenge-83-luke-1817.html and The paper variety http://www.thepapervariety.blogspot.com/  called "April Showers brings may flowers" I'm so excited, I finally used my sizzix die cut that I bought on clearance called "Splats" to make the rain puddles with.  I stamped with an old set of Stampin Up's called "Flower filled" for the boots and the blooms.  I used the stamp kissing technique to make the boots look plaid with the Stampin up plaid background stamp.  I think this would make a great child's birthday card.

365 Cards: Boy oh Boy #33

When I first read the challenge today on 365 cards I thought oh no...a boy card! Then it got worse: "Create a masculine card with a touch of pink".  After chanting "I think I can, I think I can...I dug in my paper stash and found this terrific patterned paper from the dollar store!  I kept adding male colors and the new die cut from K & Co's sweet nectar collection, and here we go! A male birthday card with a touch of pink.

365 Cards: ABC's of Crafting M,N,O

Yesterday's Alphabet Challenge was to use the letters M for Markers, N for numbers and O for the color Orange.  I had fun using my grungeboard numbers and word wundow by Tim Holtz.  I used ink to turn the grungeboard brown, and used marker to ink the "Happy Birthday" stamp in keeping with the challenge.  I added more embellishments like ribbon, brads, flowers, and making memories "celebrate" charm to complete this bright and happy card.

365 Cards: ABC's of Crafting DEF

365 cards ABC's of crafting challenge, we are on the letters D, E & F.   D as in Distressed, E as in Envelope, and F as in Fringe. For "D", I distressed the paint on a large round grommet made by Making Memories and also tore the paper edge for effect.  For "E", I made a mini envelope to stick money or other small treasures inside. Lastly, for "F" I used this terrific hot pink pom pom fringe that I found in my ribbon stash.  I added rhinestones for bling, a Happy Birthday sentiment, and now this card is ready for some lucky young girl.

Birthday Card: Men's

I made this card for my husbands birthday.  I love the colors and the patterns on this card.  I kept it masculine by not adding a bow and instead adding some brass embellishments. 

365 Cards: Fresh Baked Goodness

This card took me longer then I expected this morning.  I kept adding and adding till I couldn't fit another thing! I used clear stamps by Hanna and Hero Arts "Seize the cupcake" set to create this "Happy Birthday" card.  I paper pieced her apron so that it would match the background paper.
